Joining the prepping and painting queue this month is the second phase of my vintage Macedonian/Successor army.
These figures are nearly all paint-stripped models that I have owned since the early 1980s, a mixture of Hinchliffe and Minifigs. The Hinchliffe elephants are modern casts but I have always loved this model since i first saw in it in old wargames magazines.
Once I have finished this batch I will then have 120 phalangites, 20 hypaspists and a couple of elephants. They will be supported by hoplites and light troops from my classical Greek army (see it here).
The third phase will be cavalry. I have a mixture of light and heavy figures from Hinchliffe and Minifigs. The Hinchliffe horses are absolutely tiny though – so I am not sure whether to re-use them or substitute something a bit larger, maybe Garrison ? Thats likely to be next year’s problem though!
In the meantime, the immediate next steps are to paint those elephants and sort out those bendy pikes ! (with wire)
Enjoying seeing this project develop. Don’t envy you sorting the bendy pikes though.
Well done facing all those phalangites! The nellies are going to look great too.
